Course Overview
This is the fifth module in the 9-part IMG preparation and professional development series, designed to help International Medical Graduates build the leadership, communication, and collaborative skills needed to thrive within NHS healthcare teams.
This module explores how leadership and teamworking function within the NHS, with a particular focus on multidisciplinary collaboration, professional relationships, inclusive leadership, and adapting to UK workplace culture. It examines how effective communication, emotional intelligence, and psychological safety influence patient care, staff wellbeing, and team performance.
The module also explores common workplace dynamics faced by IMGs, including navigating rotational teams, managing hierarchy differences, handling conflict constructively, understanding unconscious bias, and contributing confidently within multidisciplinary teams. Learners will develop practical strategies to communicate effectively, build trust quickly, lead safely regardless of seniority, and work more confidently within NHS clinical environments
