Course Overview
This is the second module in the IMG to NHS series, designed to support international medical graduates as they build successful and sustainable medical careers within the UK healthcare system. This module focuses on career progression, professional development, specialty training pathways, GMC revalidation, portfolio building, networking, medico-legal protection, and long-term career planning within the NHS. Learners will gain practical insight into how UK medical careers are structured, how specialty recruitment works, and how to position themselves competitively for training and non-training roles.
The course also explores key professional expectations within the NHS, including appraisal, revalidation, quality improvement projects, interview preparation, LinkedIn networking, and working safely within the UK’s medico-legal framework. Learners will also develop a clearer understanding of consultant pathways such as CCT and CESR, while gaining strategies to strengthen their CV, portfolio, and professional presence.
Designed with practical application in mind, this module helps IMGs transition from simply working within the NHS to strategically building long-term careers within it.
